Synopsis

In the English-Speaking World describes how and where English is spoken and how it helps the world to communicate. It provides authentic views of writers from the countries concerned. With each chapter there is an activity section which includes an extract from that country's English language literature. In the English-Speaking World is mainly a reading resource, but every chapter contains a full range of speaking, listening and writing activities. The audio materials are available on audio cassettes or audio CDs. The Teacher's Guide takes the teacher through the different types of activity in the Student's Book and give suggestions on how the materials can be used in class. It includes a comprehensive answer key to the reading text questions, a list of the recorded passages on the Text cassette, and tapescripts of the Exercise cassette. In the English-Speaking World Teacher's Guide was co-written with Carol Goodwright.
